"So Paul, standing in the midst of the Areopagus, said: “Men of Athens, I perceive that in every way you are very religious. For as I passed along and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription: ‘To the unknown god.’ What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you."
                                                                               -Acts 17:22-23
What if there were a place where you could talk about the most important things in life? Things you can't easily talk about at work or home, or even with friends, because people don't often want to talk about them? I mean the questions that give life meaning.

What if this place had no boundaries, where you could speak freely about what's on your heart or mind, or your worldview, where people are there just to listen and to talk about the kind of things you want to talk about?

What if everyone there was civil and respectful, even if they totally disagree with you and you with them?

That's what an Areopagus (R-E-AWW-PAGUS) night is about. It's an open forum, where we get to speak our minds about things outside the normal realm of conversation, but that are critical to everything in life. Each meeting can be on a single subject or more general, depending on what people plan on discussing. Some of the subjects would be:

I know a place....
Q) Reasonable Faith is a Christian organization- are these meetings for Christians
and Christian ideas only?

These meetings were made for anyone to discuss their worldviews, so everyone is welcome, regardless of their religious or non-religious background.
Q) How is this different from the coffee nights we used to have?

Our Coffee Nights were set up
for apologetics training as well as for general discussion.

Further, we used to prepare a subject for a Coffee Night and then announce it. Then as many people as could come, did. With an Areopagus Night, we get a request from people durectly or from someone who has a friend who would like to share with us what's on their mind, THEN we call a meeting.
Q) Are these Debate nights?

No, these are discussion nights. We are not trying to 'win' an argument here- we are trying to let people lay their ideas on the table so we can all look at them and discuss them- it's for the good of everyone involved.
Q) What's the format, and how many people will be there?

We may meet in a coffee shop or someone's home. We can't always guess how many will be there, but if there are many we'll break into groups of 4-5. Much easier to express yourself in a small group.
Q) How do I prepare, and what do I bring?

Well, prepare to talk, and bring yourself (maybe a friend). That's all.
Why SHOULD I do what I do? Does meaning bring value?

Why DO I do what I do? In the end, does it matter? What good does purpose bring to life?

      What could God be like?~
Could there be a way to know? How will knowing change me?

Is it attainable, or is it a dream? Can it be lasting?

            Right and Wrong Today~
Is it just opinion? How can I live wisely?

Are we and everything else just an accident of nature?~
If so, what does that mean for us?
